I have a C4 and am looking at upgrading to get more high end cruising speed (65+). I know the T5 is more of a racing tranny, and I just found out about the AOD today, thought the auto to auto swap might be easier than auto to man. So maybe you could inform me of which is a better way to go.

Thanks, Spence

it's been covered here before, i think the consensus was that the AOD robbed too much power through parasitic loss to be truly useful

do a search for AOD swap, you shouldn't have any problems finding it

EDIT: and this is the first i've heard of the T5 being a "race tranny"

The T5 isn't really a racing transmission. THe Tremec is better for that. Compared to the old 2.77, the T5 is a racing trans.

If you do a lot of drag racing, the Automatics are actually usually faster because of shifting. THe drag loss is only about 5% different (based on BHP)between the AOD and T5.

There is no AOD will will directly bolt to a 200. If you want an automatic overdrive, then look at the Gear Vendors Gear Splitter add-on for the C4.

The T-5 is a 5-speed manual trans Ford used in quite a few of its cars from the early 80's through the 90's. A T-5 is not classified as a 'racing tranny' by any stretch, but just like everything else, it can be built up to be stronger for more aggressive driving.

Even on my 5.0, the AOD isnt a tranny i'd recommend. I am happy with the C4 I have on my 200.
