have you considered FSPP Pacemaker header from AZCoupe. I was very impressed by the quality of the header and the color. He has better prices and the workmanship is superior.

Also you might have to swap your dizzy too. With the Pertronix ignition, you'll need to buy a 68+ dizzy with mechanical and vacumm advance. I'm running into the same problem here as I await my carb from Stovebolt. They're sending me a new Holley 5200 for $75. Tom didn't tell me how many he had left but he just got a shipment in around 6pm EST.

Good Luck

Thanks! I have considered the header from AZ Coupe. I may go with if the color is as good as you say it is since I was planning to have the Clifford header powder coated anyway. It will save me some money there. Is there anything else I am going to need for the Holley carb other than the adapter from Clifford? Did you go with the pre drilled adapter or are you going to drill it yourself? Where is the best place to get the Dizzy? Thanks again.

I bought my adapter from Clifford. I talked to Tom at Stovebolt and he wondered why I didn't buy his adapter. He's going to look into the design of Clifford's and see if he can make something up. What a great guy. As for the dizzy, any parts store should have it. But before you dive into this rebuild, I really suggest on getting the Falcon Six Performance Handbook. It blew my mind and I've been reading it over and over to the improvements I can do once the engine is back in my stang. It'll be a lifesaver for you. Now for Azcoupe's headers, IIRC the price for coated was $380, still better than Clifford.

I agree with Andrew... get the AZ headers.. I had mine coated silver.. and had the intake done to match... GREAT WORK!...
not only are they cheaper they are better made headers!

One other thing you might consider...
since you are upping the cam, and going with the headers and 2bbl carb...
You might consider running a DSII with MSD control... get the Helicore MSD wires from Summit and throw in a new dizzy from NAPA... or salvage the parts if money is a concern... but the performance of the DSII on that setup would be worth the extra pennies.

My 2cents anyway....

P.S. when you get the headers, have Mike set you up with a dual timing chain set too...

Hi,

Great List!!

I'd suggest that you backcut the intake valves. It makes the engine think the cam has more lift. The head shop should be able to do it for a few dollars per valve.

Dave and I don't recommend backcutting the exhaust valves on drivers - only race engines- because the exhaust valve has to withstand LOTS more heat.

If the head shop starts to tell you that a bunch of your Intake valves need to be replaced, You can replace the '66 1.65" dia intake valve with 1.76" dia valves.

Good Luck
