Completed my DuraSpark upgrade

My Duraspark upgrade is finished. Can't believe how quick the car starts. The idle has smoothed out too. I have not increased the gap in my plug yet and they are still at .035. I am going to put new plugs in tomorrow and gap them at .050 to start. I will adjust up and down from there. I am using an HEI module (which was easy to wire) mounted on a plate of 1/4 aluminum. I used a chrome Blaster 2 coil which I mounted on the shock tower just below where I mounted my HEI module. I have the vacuum advance hooked up to the manifold vacuum port. I had the Duraspark recurved by www.reincarnation-automotive.com. Here is the advance chart.

500 RPM Degrees of Advance 0
1000 RPM Degrees of Advance 2
1500 RPM Degrees of Advance 8
2000 RPM Degrees of Advance 12
2500 RPM Degrees of Advance 18
2800 RPM Degrees of Advance 20

Initial timing to 14 degrees BTDC.

I will set up the plugs this week and start to tune the carbs better.

I will begin the biggest project in a few weeks, Rear Frame Rails..

cool, it's a great upgrade. do you know what your max vacuum advance is? scott from reincarnation would have provided that with the other mecahnical data. i found that with the vacuum advance hooked up to manifold vacuum, i had the max (14 degrees) almost all the time. it was too much for my new carb/head setup, which i was trying to sort out when winter struck and i had to put 'er up for a few months. i'm going to try the ported vacuum connection on the 2-bbl carb in about a month, see how that works. there are lots of discussions about this mod and the various options for the vacuum advance, do a search and you'll find plenty of feedback.

cheers

Glad to hear you got that part done, plan to do or get my recurve done during timeframe I have motor out of the car in a couple of months.
