I did a compression test on my 66 and got the following results:
1 2 3 4 5 6
165 165 165 150 165 150

with oil added to bad cylinders and #1 for test control
170 175 170

How does this translate into a rebuild of the shortblock?

Those numbers are all within 10 percent. I think I'd do an engine flush before changing the oil, and call it a good shortblock.

If it isn't burning too much oil and runs good I wouldn't open up an engine like that. It's good for another 50k at least :D

This engine is showing 80,000 on the odometer. I assume 180,000.
It doesn't burn any oil. I used to get blue smoke until I set the gas jet up higher( more gas to the carb). The msd really makes it perform and I'll let everyone know about the gas mileage as soon as I can burn up a whole tank.
