Cooling System Flush

Well, one thing led to another and before I knew it, I had the entire cooling system disassembled. My question is how do I know if the system has been purged correctly? It's not over heating and it seems to have taken about 8 quarts of fluid (full amount).

checked hoses
checked petcock
new cap
new 180° stat with 1/8 purge hole added
new fluid

Put one of those little plastic Ts with a cap in one of the heater hoses. You can purge the system of air with one, they work pretty well.

I run the system open until the coolant starts to overflow by adding a little at a time. after about 15 minutes, it will be full. I drive down the road a few minutes, come back home. Let it sit for an hour, and then top it off.

8 quarts for a 200 is about right.
