CROSSFLOW GEARBOX

Hello ,

I have a gearbox question .
Is there an issue with running non crossflow gearboxs on the back of crossflow engines . I do have the original xr 3 speed bolted up to the XF alloyhead engine and all seems to work ok ,the only issue is you end up 1 bolt hole short for the starter motor . Is there any thing to look out for in running the non crossflow box and bell housing. Im looking at a 4 speed from a Xy non-cross flow and swaping the cable clutch bell housing off and fitting the hydraulic 3 speed bell housing to avoid having to change pedal box . Anyone had any experiance in this ?

Cheers Dave

hi i have interchanged a few of them and apart from the 1 bolt hole in the bell housing being different from toploader to single rail every thing else is the same.with the starter motor they all still have the 2 outter bolts which is all you need.i have put single rails and toploaders from pre crossflows and bolted them straight upto crossfflows no worries, just use which ever clutch set up you want.i recently pulled a starter motor out of an xy precrossflow and put it into my cortina without a drama :)
