Well, I just test-fit my crossflow into my Datsun 280.
It sort of fits. Except I have a rear-sump Datsun and a front sump crossflow...how rare are rear-sump oil pans for the crossflows?
Also, is there a different EFI intake than the "over the top" style? I have room all around but it will be very close to the hood (assuming I can lower the engine several inches through a better oil pan--dry sump if I can't go with a rear sump).
Does anyone have a picture of a rear sump pan, perhaps with a ruler nearby so I can compare the profile to my engine bay?
And last...a side profile (with ruler) of an OHC as I am considering going OHC for the Datsun.
It's really a decent fit...with a T-5 transmission the mounts are only about 5cm (2") from the Datsun mounts, and the engine is noticeably lighter. The only collision right now is between the sump and crossmember.
I'm still surprised I can't find anyone who has done a Ford six into a Datsun Z car...it looks like it won't be too bad a swap (knock on wood!).
If my laptop hadn't decided to die Monday morning I'd post pics of the "test dangle" and measurements...maybe after I get back to the ship (next week) I can get something working.
