Demisions for a 200

I know their on the site somewhere, but at the moment I did a quick search and could not find them.

I want to know how long the 200 is, and how long it would be with your run of the mill auto with the floor shifter. If I recall my uncle's 81 with a 200 correctally, that is the setup I am considering.

So I need length & width of the engine and with the tranny mated.

Funny thing with bordem, it makes you ponder strange things. This one is a serious idea at a RWD conversion of a tempo/topaz with a 200. I think the wheelbase and track width on a fox is very close to that of a tempo.

Maybe I've been reading too many of X's posts

The engine length is 30.5" from block to balancer. Most transmissions are 20.5" from separator plate to trans mount, and 29.5" to the drive shaft case.

Engine width is 9.29", and the mounts sit mid ships, and are about 16 inches apart where the stock bolts link into the sub frame.

A Fox stang or US Capri should underpin the Topaz well, but its a lot of work. I've seen unibodies linked to unibodies. The Torana, a Vega/Monza basically, cun be welded to a 1948 FX or 55 FJ Holden, and the old body just makes it very strong.

In a similar way, a cut down seprate frame Chevy Luv, Hi Lux or Toyota Crown or even just the Mustang II or Pinto front subframes can be connected to the unibody. Front drive cars are very good for mounting subframes.

Like anything, you get out what you put in. Aussies have been doing wild hybrids for years like this.

If it was easy, everyone would do it and it wouldn't be fun.

Seriously, I think I could shoe horn a 200 and tranny into a tempo's engine bay.

My idea includes SFC's (ofcourse), and some other custom frame type work. The biggest worry is the placement of the gas tank. A shame nobody makes a repo AWD tank.

The cool thing is that in it's stock form, a 200 makes almost as much HP and probably alot more torque than an HSC.

But with the extra weight of bracing and engine/tranny. Break upgrades are a must.

So basically I'd need a donor fox with a 200 and a donor tempo (not hard to find).
