I took the dizzy out of my 200 cid engine... to change the advance curve.

Nothing went well that evening... I managed to get the top of the dizzy apart. I also managed to pop the spring - weight arm off the center sleeve piece that rotates to advance the timing.

So, I got that tig welded back together;

I changed the max advance in the dizzy from 18 to the 13 setting. As I understand it the 18 and 13 setting are 36 and 26 degrees at the crank shaft..... I will bring the remainder of timing in as initial

Now to reinstall the dizzy into the engine

Me too! :D
I started taking apart a dizzy for a 2.3 4cyl engine I picked up at a speed shop that's going out of business here. ($25!) :nod:
I already have an I6 armature and gear, but I'll take it in to a shop to get that pressed on.
I also have a advance cam with a 10° slot, and a Mr. Gasket spring for the secondary.

I have the dizzy back in the engine, and fired up. I set initial at 11 degrees. Advance seems to come in quicker..

Maybe I can get to the drag strip this week end and start the tune process on this new combo
