Well I pulled the original 200 out of my '65 and have the rebuilt one all set to go in, however the distributor does not want to go in....

To get the other distributor OUT of the rebuilt engine, I needed to lightly hammer it out (I know thats not supposed to happen), and now I cant get the new distributor INTO the engine. :x

Ive been playing around with it for an hour and still am having problems :(

thanks for anyones help! :D

Often times, I've had to take the Dremmel with a sanding drum and work the distrubutor shaft housing around the o-ring area in order to get them to drop in.

John,

I finally got it in --- turns out I had to do the exact same as you mentioned! As long as its in Im happy, thanks again 8)

I had a little trouble getting my DSII to seat properly in the '68 block. I had to use a screwdriver to manually turn the oil pump (without the dizzie and pump shaft in of course) a little at a time and keep retrying the fit. The pump shaft and helical nature of the dizzie/cam gears have to fit "right" in order for it to slide in nicely.

If you didn't turn the engine while it's out it you should have any issues but if your installing a distributor into a freshly buit motor you have turn the engine to TDC on #1 and line up the rotor so number is about to spark and then the fun part comes in. You have to turn the distributor to line up the oil pump gear and the teeth on the cam. Took me a little while to install mine.
