Distributor rotor

Can someone please help me find the right rotor for my two cars: 1964 170ci or 1967 200ci. They both have the same distributor. Eeverytime I get a rotor from the parts store or get a tune up they give me a rotor that is too sloppy on the distributor shaft to work. I can rotate it about 20 degrees. The notch in the rotor is too small for the slot on the dist. shaft. I have put a piece of sheet metal in the rotor to keep it from moving. Wher can I get the right part?

Thanks, Oly

Yeah there is a little metal clip that goes under the rotor. It only helps a little. I have one if you are interested, but it really made almost no difference on my mustang.

If that clip is missing or broken it will be sloppy. That seems to be one of those mystery parts that is hard to find. Before I did a duraspark on mine I found that a few wraps of teflon tape held it nice and snug. The only time I ever saw one of those clips new was for my ford tractor. It came in a pack with plugs, points, condenser, cap and rotor. Not sure how old the kit was, it was a New Holland so it was not as old as the tractor. I wonder if you bought a motorcraft rotor maybe it would come with the clip? Or try a New Holland dealer?
