Does anyone know if it would be possible to put one of those 24-Valve DOHC's in a 65 mustang? And how much it would cost.......just an idea ::coughdreamcough:: lol?

Yep they will fit with a lot of modifications!

Figure somewhere in the neighborhood of $12,000-$15,000 or a little bit more if you cant do all the work yourself.

If you want to, a cheeper option is to consider a cheery older SOHC engine, like an XR6 Intech VCT engine from an AU. It has 235 hp, and 272 lb-ft of torque. And don't get an auto...they lost over a second over the quarter mile over a T5 5-speed manual. Someone must be able to organise a good option which doesn't break the dollar level. Surely John Travena would be interested in backloading his contaniers of Ford Mustangs and engines that he imports from the States to Aussie.

Addo and I laid bets about that SOHC Falcon engine fitting into an early Ford. (Seams I have an XECUTE eats hit shoe-laces photo to post here). But if it just fits...it fits! http://fordsix.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1848&start=0&postdays=0&postorder=asc&highlight=

Australia must be in the Most Favoured Nation Status after the Iraq war. We New Zealanders are as popular as pork pie at a Jewish wedding. Poor PM Helen Clark is trying to offer up a flottila of troops to make up for her "We back the UN" stand. Easy to be a peace-nik when your 12000 miles away...

Check out http://www.krogdahlheads.com. They are an Australian company that makes aftermarket DOHC heads for the 144-250 Ford sixes. A complete kit is about $2000-2500 USD if I remember correctly. I emailed them a few months back to ask them if they made heads for the 240-300 sixes also. Here's the reply I got:

Dear David,
I'm sorry that I am unable to supply you a twincam cylinder head to fit your engine (240/300cu/in) but I can give you an option .
I have a demo motor for sale which I can ship to you .It is a complete engine .250 cu/in Falcon/Mustang Twincam engine.It has done aprox 15000 miles .This is a fully operational engine with the following features;
Twin CDI ignition systems complete ,3 x side draft 45 mm Webber carbys with manifold and all linkages,10:1 comp ratio -super or unleaded compatable, set up for air-con and power steering. This is a complete Mustang engine,250cu/in instead of 200cu/in,ready to slot straight in.Auto or manual. No fuss! No hassles! No worries! Press button start-instant go.This engine will deliver aprox 400 HP @ 6000RPM. Your cost would be $4750 usd including freight to USA .
If you are interested ,I can send you some email photos.Kind regards , Bob Krogdahl

I don't have that much money to spend on my Mustang right now, but if I did I would have jumped on that deal. That's certainly better than $12000-15000.

edit: I just checked their website and it seems to be down. I hope it's just a temporary glitch.

SWEET!!!! Sounds good, just need to get some cash....the hard part.

Yeah, but the discussion spun away from Jack's photo. As I said, myself and another hacker (Newcastle die-hard Honest John) had the two cars beside one another, and were checking them out.

It's quite do-able, but the majority of the XK-XP Falcon market here is too poor or wants a V8, and the same could probably be said of the US.

Adam.

BB6Mustang,
I tried the "www.krogdahlhead.com" and can not get it to work. I even put ".au" at the end. Still no success. Is it spelled right? Or am I doing something wrong? I now have a 250-6 with an Aust. head, but I'd love to have a DOHC conversion.

Hotrod Bill, it's acually "www.krogdahlheads.com". You didn't put in the "s" on the end. But that is a moot point because their site is down right now. I really hope that they're still in buisness and it's just a technical problem with the website. If you want you could try emailing them and see if you get a response: sales@krogdahlheads.com
