Downfall of running a C9AZ-6150-C HG with O-rings?

Since I wont be able to rebuild my turbo for a bit I was wondering if I could run what looks to be a thin composite Ford head gasket with my O-ringed block to bring compression up til I get turbo rebuilt. Then I would pull head and swap on my .080" solid copper head gasket.

I can't see why not. I'd be inclined to use either a FelPro or Victor gasket rather than the FoMoCo NOS composite gasket. Can you pull O-ring material? Give it a try and let us know.

Adios, David

I was asking because I have the Ford composite gasket and i dont have money to buy a good new composite gasket like Fel Pro or Victor.

Im probably just going to do the copper gasket and be done with it.

For awhile we ran a Fel-Pro gasket with O-rings. Didn't seem to help us at 18lbs. of boost, but it would work fine under "normal conditions".

So the Ford gasket should work too! Is your head clearanced? If the gasket is around .030" or less then the head will probably need to be clearanced to allow the gasket to mold into the head a bit because of the O-ring.

Personally I'd just install the Copper gasket and be done with it. Sure you'll lose a little compression, but the work involved would be worth it. And you'll be able to run cheaper gas until the turbo is done :D
Then when you put the turbo on, the car will seem even faster!
