dual exhaust question

i have been thinking about putting a dual exhaust where a pipe exits on each side of the car just in front of the rear wheels, has anyone done this or what trouble i might have with doing this, is it even possible to do with having to cross over the drive shaft. if not i was thinking of getting a gt rear valance and putting the tips through that.

what do you mean a pipe right behind the front wheel? would you have your tips right there, or pipes starting right behind the front wheel and running to the back, like on the cobras? i have seen some mufflers in jegs that would be perfect for the second one.

barroom,
just in front of the rear wheel like the cobra is just what i was thinking but it would not work would it.
also what were you thinking of for the second idea

why wouldn't it work?
a few of the GT350s had 'em like that
i don't think there are any major problems with the system, unless you count aesthetic as a problem

i just don't think it looks very nice coming out right there, looks ......... off
but it has been done before

i know two people with exhuast set up like that, one with a six 66 stang, the other has a 289 in a 67, so he probaly didnt have to cross the drive shaft. i dont imagine it would be too hard, ill ask my friend how he had his set up, im pretty sure its a y-pipe. i remember i think it was stang200 saying he had dual flowmasters with side tips.

if you do do this, and have some extra cash to drop, get some of these.

The guy running dual side pipes was "luckyyou03", IIRC. He had a stock manifold, and a "Y" below that, leading one side between the sump and the bellhousing face.

Cheers, Adam.

V8 Mustangs have a crossover pipe between the dual pipes so crossing under the drive shaft isn't an issue. A good muffler shop shop be able to work out the details.
