but would they even work? ( Look very different to the carb thats on the motor!)

Oh well, 3 times and no answers , so I gave up and bought a new standard dizzy, water pump and fuel pump.

Just trying to locate a good carb now.

I'll try again.. anyone know the diff between the BXOV, BXUV , BOV and BV? Which is the one I should be getting?

Hey I think barry grant make a replacement carb too not sure if they r any good or not just somethin else for ya to look into

A stock stromberg is a good carb and rebuild kits are easy to do and only cost $25, can of carby cleaner and your set, just check yours first if you do rebuild as one kit has a rubber plundger the other a leather one.

You can buy adaptors to put a holley straight on a pre Xflow log motor like yours.

Is the cam standard, pistons anything else?

Stock water pump and fuel pumps are fine.

Cheers Steve

Thanks Steve

Yeah the motor is stock. I am toying with the idea of a mild cam just to get WOT up a few more rev. ( current motor wot is 3000, would like 3200- 3300)
I was reading about the power gains from the DUI alone and thought that may do it.. but I am not buying one without knowing 100% that it will work.

I have rebuilt a carb already. Seems to be OK, but I didn't know about the leather / rubber. Which one should I go for?

Many thanks

Cheers.. don't know who that is, but I'll google it and find out!

Barry grant make all the demon series carbs.
You could always go for an elec ignition dizzy out of an xf if you wanted.

The standard carb from factory was a stromburg.

The float bowl cover either has 2 screws in the corners and a flat edge or 3 screws and a "triangle" edge. The plunger in the fuel bowl has a baby circlip on it and it will either be a rubber or leather material on the end of the plundger.

Go to the wreckers and get a webber from a XD-XF and the electronic dizzy out of one and that will be an alterntive and get you electronic ingnition.

Cheers Steve

Cheers, I'll stick with the new stock dizzy for now and get a new coil etc.

For anyone looking at the Pony carbs , I have had an email from Pony carbs saying they are not suitable for the old non cross flow 250.

I'll look into those webbers, thanks Steve.

Thanks

Rob
