i swapped out my 1100 for a carter YF and was unaware of the LOM and it's quirks. once i learned that you had to change the dizzy with the carb i put in a DSII. i have a commercial account with Autozone and just ordered up the ignition system for a 78 granada. everything was correct and a direct swap. i'm running an MSD6AL on my bus and ended up returning the computer box i got with it and ran the MSD straight to the dizzy using the mag pickup.
yesterday in a fit of frustration i pulled the YF carb off due to internal leaks. i bolted the 1100 back on and threaded an 1/8" NPT 90* nipple into the hole where the original vacuum fitting came out of the carb and ran that to the dizzy. works well but still has the typical flat spot that i never was able to get rid of which is what lead me to pulling it off and bolting the YF in place.
is it ideal.. probably not. is it perfect... far from it. does it work... yes. and i tried using manifold vacuum but it had a worse flat spot that the way i did it... but as i understand these carbs were notorious for having a flat spot on acceleration.
