Picked up a Duraspark out of a '79 Merc at the salvage yard, did the 925d spring swap, cleaned it up, got it lookin nice. Problem is it won't fit in the '66 block. The very bottom of it, the part that the oil pump drive plugs in to, has an outside diameter about .050" bigger than the one I pulled out. Idiot question I suppose, but am I supposed to swap that shaft with the old one from the old distributor, or did I screw up and get the wrong duraspark? The new one has a half inch O.D., while the old one is a .450". Also, the oil pump drive hex rods are different sizes. Does my rambling make any damn sense, cuz I just reread it and don't know what the hell I'm talking about. Help?
