Duraspark system

When buying a Duraspark system new, what parts do you ask for? What year car and such? I am looking for a complete list. My dad said he's gonna take me school shopping (aka we're going to go to the parts house and I'm gonna get a bunch of fun stuff, finally get my 2 bbl adapter, wanna get a full DS2 setup going, and figure out how I'm gonna do the linkage). My old load-o-matic is tired, and if I get an Autolite 2100 on there, there's no SCV right? So a duraspark will be much better, right?

While I have no complete list I can tell you that anything off a 78-83 Fairmont or Zephyr 3.3l should work. The "blue grommet" ones are the most common outside California, and has two leads. Some have worked with the "yellow grommet" California model, which I think has three leads.
There was a thread here that talked about the different advance curve on the yellow one.
The distributors are all the same on these cars.
The coil for these cars is OK also.
You might want to go to a scrapyard for some of the wiring, or ask here

Ask for a 78 Fairmont 200 (3.3 litre) I6.

You'll need to ask for the distributer, cap, cap adapter, rotor, HEI plug wires & coil.

Then decide if you want a MSD box or a stock ignition box. If stock ask for the "blue grommet" or "blue strain releif"

You'll also have to do a bit of rewiring to make it work.

Later,

Doug
