Duraspark tuning question...

So I got my Duraspark in... and wow. Exceptional gas mileage improvement as well as top end. Whereas before I started to lose power with my points at above 60 MPH~, it will easily go 90 now. =) Manual brakes and steering @ 90 MPH is awesome! (especially when your brakes grab to the left and you change lanes without wanting to...) Anyways, new brakes and we're good. Here's my question...

I got the Duraspark all wired up just right, and it's great. Slight hesitation from a stop, VERY slight, but I think that's in the carb (It was doing it before the conversion). Now when I punch it from a dead stop it really has the power I am looking for, but it ticks click click click click right in time with the revolution of the motor, and then cuts out after about 2 seconds. The clicking speeds up. It only does this when I punch it, otherwise, it's great through the whole RPM range... what is that?

The clicking cuts out, or the motor cuts out?

Mystery sounds are always hard to describe over the internet, but usual suspects would be a exhaust leak, a loose rocker arm, and pinging.

If its with RPM and independent of load, it's probably not pinging.

If it's more of a snapping electrical sounding tick than a mechanical tick, it sounds like a spark jumping to ground somewhere to me. Check your wires, cap and rotor. Sometimes you can spot these in the dark with the engine running.

Ah! Sounds like a plan. It does sound like an electrical tick, and it winds up with RPM, and then the ticking cuts out. =)
