I heard off a freind of a freind that an ea block is the same as the crossflow block? is this true? if it is how well can an ea head be worked? and what about stickin a t5 on it then? for a tc cortina or an xa falcon?

The OHC block is totally reworked, but the crank and rods are almost exactly the same as the x-flow, and can be interchanged if you allow for the metric bolts and differnt main seal.

The ohv block is 9.38" tall, the EA is 9.22" tall. They removed the cam from the block, and the OHC starter sits where the cam used to go. They were going to release a Turbo OHC in 1989, but Ford got cold feet whenthe BTR Four-speed wasn't ready in time. The starter sits on the left because it clears to exhast!

There is no way to fit an EA bellhousing to a cross flow, although its possble to fit an EB-BA V8 T5 to an OHC or X-FLOW if you use a special adaptor.

Pretty soon, everyone will be wanting to run the V8 pattern block due out in the next Falcons because 5 speed autos and six speed autos are being released in America.

As for T5 in XA, piece of cake. TC, harder becasue the shifter is very close to the handbrake. Shorten the handbrake, open the shifter hole up, and enjoy it.

OHC heads barely need any rework, they have big valves in a semi hemi arrangement and only some chamber rework will be usefull on early heads.
T5 were the standard manual tranny on the six so no trouble bolting one up.
Dont forget the ea 3.9 was 185hbp, later el 4litres were almost 200bhp with stock exhaust manifold etc.
Crossflow wont go near that with standard setup.
