Eaton M90 questions + other

It's a drawthrough setup. I'm trying not to give away how my valve works, but the input will sit approximatey where the front of the carb is.

I'm running a stock points distributor in a '70 F100. Never liked that big pancakey Duraspark. If I put something else on I'd prefer the mallory because it's made by people who specialize in ignition. Mode of construction is more appealing. Thinner footprint. Vacuum diaphragm isn't like a giant tumor hanging off it.

With a stock points distributor, take a look at the Pertronix kits. I installed a Pertronix I (before there was a II or a III) in my '69 Mustang, been flawless since it went in 12 years ago. I put a Pertronix II in my '63 Falcon. Both yielded noticeable improvements. Now there is a III. They are all far superior to stock kits and remain serviceable with counter parts, only the points are replaced. The primary difference between your stock distro and the aftermarket units you've mentioned is the trigger. The Hall Effect Pertronix trigger is just as capable as the optical in the Unilite. Most aftermarket distros are designed to expand the upper rpm band over stock. But if you're not going to 6k, why drop the $300+ for "the good stuff" when a $100 Pertronix kit will do everything you'll ever need and want.

I've been wanting to put a pertronix in my Power Wagon.

I guess I like the Mallory better because it is a more svelte unit than the stock distributor. I really want an early distributor with the small diaphragm and steel line, but I think those have all disappeared.

Just got a new set of shocks and some rear tires that were in better shape, It's like a new rig, except for steering a little hard..
