Hi all. Just a couple of questions about ECU's.

Does anyone know if you can put an ECU from an ED XR6 into an EA? Mine is an EA series 2 with 4 speed auto. I know my auto has it's own computer. I believe the ED ECU is from an auto. I guess if it was from a manual it might be more suited to an EA because it doesn't need the ED auto control.

So the questions are, firstly, will the ED unit plug straight into my car and run the engine alone?, and secondly, what advantage will I have if any?

If anyone has any thoughts I'd be curious to hear. Thanks.

You cannot put an ED XR6 ecu in your EA. BUT if you can find a --non smartlock-- EB2 XR6 (manual) ecu it should work. But you may need to change your injectors and fuel pressure regulator to get a proper result. Have you considered the usual extractors, exhaust and airfilter (in your existing airbox- a pod will just breathe hot air)?? Maybe advance the timing a bit too (4 degrees or so with better fuel). Try these before spending your hard earned on an ecu that may make little difference!

Kendall.
