I am working on a few efi conversion projects and was wondering about fuel pumps and fuel pump issues. My big concern is without an in tank pump and baffles that there could be issues especially when the tank levels get low. My thought that seems to easy to be true:
Use the mechanical pump to feed some sort of small tank (maybe a quart or so). The proper electric pump would suck fuel out of the bottom of this tank. The injector return line would run into the top of this tank. There would also be a return line back to the main tank on the top of the little one.
Im sure there is some obvious reason this wont work?
For the tank I was thinking of looking at some sort of industrial or marine fuel filter. They would be about the right capacity and have the option of several fittings plus it would be a filter.
Ideas? Thoughts? Or is it truly not needed and just go with the frame mounted electric and not worry about it.
