whats the dif between the electeric ignitions on these litle engins :?:
 
what do you mean? between points, and something like a petronix ignition? or the ignition between the different years (points, duraspark)
 
The Duraspark I was introduced in the early seventies to help with emissions requirements. It is very much like the DII in function, but has a small conventional cap and rotor. The DII was introduced in 1976 and has a large cap and rotor for improved resistance to arcing.

The connnectors and the control boxes are different between the two versions.
 
my 76 mave has the small cap ? gess they didn`t put it on all the 76 cars huh ? :roll: :)
 
I guess so. 1976 was a transition year, so it depends on when and where you car was produced.. Ford has a way of phasing things in so it's not unusual to find previous years parts on cars if they are the same in form, fit, and function.
