Hey guys, any of you running an electric fuel pump?
Which one would you guys suggest to use? And do you guys know of a chart to help figure out the size or GPH flow that I would need for my 250?

One of the best mods I ever did on my dd . Hit the key pause, carb now filled, instant start up . For the last 40 years it has been cooling my tig torch. It is a SW solenoid pump.

I run an electric pump (from a Jaguar XJS V12) on my 66 to keep up with the boost Im throwing at it and I love it. I have no issues with mechanical pumps on NA cars, but would run an electric pump too if I felt the need. Mechanical pumps are easy, cheap and reliable but if you feel the itch to modernize your fuel system, go for it!!!

wHATS BEEN DONE TO YOUR ENGINE a near stock one doesent need much volume

The engine is still in the works but the specs will be:

69 250 30 over custom forged Pistons
10.3 SCR 7.8-7.9 DCR
Balanced and rotating asymbly and polished/shot peened rods
.04 quench area
CI AL head ( cleaned up chambers and polished runners.)
CS 280 Hyd cam
1.6 adjustable rockers
570 holly street avenger

Is the electric pump too much? Or should I go for it
I plan on going with fuel injection later down the road.

If so, you will also need a surge tank (EFI hates air in the supply during cornering), a lift pump to supply said surge tank (could keep the mechanical, or use the electric you put in now for the carb) and then a HP fuel pump... Quite a bit different then the setup for a carb.

For my turbo 200 EFI econoline, I have an airtex electric 30gal/hr pump feeding a 2.5L surge tank, which returns to the main tank. and a bosch inline HP pump (from volvo 940) feeding my Injectors, and then returning to the surge tank via the regulator.

I think there are more than a few EFI engines on the road that do not have surge tanks.

How are you guys plumbing your fuel lines into the tank?

All the OEM cars have it in the tank/pump basket, or a deep sump, all our old fords have big flat tanks, that suck a lot of air when low on fuel it. (which a carb could care less about)

I use the stock tank outlet at the sender to feed my lift pump, and I brazed a return nipple into the tank next to the sender to return from my surge tank.
