Engine Block Casting Numbers

I checked out what is supposed to be a 200 out of a 78 Fairmont. I checked my book for the block casting number, and was able to identify what looks like "1F13." I located it on the starter side back between and under two of the freeze plugs.

But I can't find this number anywhere as a valid engine block number.

Any thoughts?

Thanks,
Erik

Look on the other side of the block, under the exhaust manifold. Only the early blocks (60-63) had the casting numbers next to the starter.

The casting numbers are right under the 2nd and 3rd freeze plugs from the back of the engine.

Clean it up a bit and look again. It should start with a letter, and the second digit will be a number. What you posted is not a valid casting code.

It should start with D8 or D7 if it's really from a 78 Fairmont. Probably.

hmmm... what I remember looking at on the other side looked like it was stamped. I wrote it down, but the first digit was difficult to read, it looked like a small "e" (almost like a greek letter): all together it was "eA119436"....

Dunno. I may go back to see if it's still available.

Thanks for the help.
