I have an engine I’m trying to find the correct fuel pump for. It’s in a 61’ Ranchero, but the engine doesnt match up. It has vacuum wipers and I’d like to keep it as original as possible . C6DE 6015-A
I bought a replacement pump, but the cam lever angle is different.

That Block Design / Casting number C6DE-6015-A is for a 1966 engine. There should be no reason that you can't use the early style Fuel pump on the newer engine, can you post some pictures of the two Fuel Pumps showing the differences? Best of luck

I agree, but the angle is off and the lobe on the cam doesnt hit, at least I don’t think it did. I got another fuel pump because I assumed the first one was wrong or bad because I couldnt feel any suction from the tank sideof the pump. I guess I need to put the new one on and check to see if it hits the cam. I will update on my progress.

That new pump will work fine, as for the lever being a little different its not going to effect it, however the fuel pump lever and the fuel pump eccentric (or lobe of the cam) it just might of been that the lobe was on its low point especially if the pump bolted up real easy.

And just like that I’m back to square one. I did a test with the pumps, I put a little paint on the levers of both, I put a new one in and turned it over and it didn’t touch the lever. I put the old one in and it rubbed against it and I can even feel resistance and the vacuum even pumping when I’m putting it in.

there's up side dwn and down side up too.
Some get fooled lookin @ the unpainted surface on the block'n its gasket.

I'm used to longer arms.
Some (me) pull the pin (@ the arm) slide it out & pin in an arm they want. May B
da ol 1 if not havin the holly excentric egged ouda it? 8^ 0

Everything matches up with it being down, including the one I took off.

i considered trying to swap levers, but I didn’t want to get that involved in it. Plus, there has to be the right one, I just need to find out what it is,lol.

if U C a pic w/a longer lever... post it.
Some put the 'dual tower' (2 2 inch pegs) up others down.
The 'early' (more ofa canster) goes up only, no?

looks like what I got (mine's delphy brand, not sure what this is, BUT I like NAPA best).

That is very odd I wonder if they used a shorter Lever Spring inside the Fuel pump body. Where did you get your new pumps from? Someplace I should have the Address for a very good Fuel pump rebuilder.

Oreillys. im on my second one, i was hoping I just got a bad one. They look identical except for the angle of the lever.

I guess I really need to find out what motor I actually have.

Id like to get your contacts info if you don’t mind. I was planning on having it rebuilt anyway, I found a guy but he’s 9 weeks out.

This pump is giving me all kinds of trouble, lol.

Here is that company source I that I was talking about they specializes in the Rebuilding of the older Fuel Pumps and Water Pumps as well as have a Rebuilding Service of your parts. http://arthurgouldrebuilders.parkerspackards.com/mobi/

There is also a Carter version of that fuel pump that was used, but they don't have the Glass Fuel Bowls on the bottom of it which I always really liked having, I know of a few sources for those Carters to.

I just checked them out, looks like the turnaround is quick also.

Yes its kind of sad not very many places that do a good job rebuilding these old parts now days. It won't matter on the Motor size as that fuel pump can fit and work on all the 144's, 170's and 200's Sixes they will even fit a 250 six though that type Fuel Pump was mostly only used on those first early Falcons, Comets, the cars and the Ranchero Pickups, which didn't yet get the electric wiper's. With that 1966 Block Number you either have a 170 or 200 if its only has 3 Freeze Plugs than its a 170 Six if it has 5 than its a 200 Six.

Update.

I used the pump rebuilder suggested by Bubba. I just thought I’d post some info in case someone needed it in the future.

From the time it arrived at Arther Gould till I received it back was 8 days, really impressed with that.

The cost in total was $145, not too bad in my opinion.

I don’t have a real good before picture of the pump.

Awgdawg, the fuel Pump looks really nicely rebuilt and the price dose sounds even better than those of most of the local auto parts stores, let us know how it works out for you.

nice pump, never saw this one. Gota part number?
Been lookin for a glass boweled one for mine (no glass boweled carb in this app/'as built'). Fun
( always!) things we can do to our vehicles...

PS: I hope U R using an engine stand to do this work. U need to have the access it provides + it helps flipping back'n forth (top/bottom/top)
in the assembly process. A once thru the 'echo vid' & a written guide also R esential for many of us even on our 3rd, 4th identical assembly.

This is all I have, Im having trouble finding a replacement pump. My issue is I’m not sure what engine I really have.
