engine numbers

ive got a 200 crossflow engine presumably from a 1980 cortina.
but we cant find the engine number on the block anywhere.
do you know where it should be located so that i can find it?
any help would be greatly appreciated

i'm pretty sure the erly x-flow's had the engine number stamped just above the driver's side engine mount and the later blocks have the engine number stamped on the driver's side of the block just behind the water pump boss. hope this helps
