is the engine rotation on a 1949 ford Inline 6, when looking from the front of the car, to the back of the car, Clockwise?

Yes, its clockwise (top of the front pulley to the right). Almost all US engines rotate in this direction, a holdover from the days of hand cranks before electric starters when it was easier for right handers to rotate the engine in the clockwise direction.
