hey guys nice forum.

I just wanted to know some engine weights. Namely;

pre-crossflow (from a 74 TC cortina)

alloy head crossflow

302w

I have come across differing opinions on the weight of these so any help would be appreciated.

I have a tc 250 pre x flo. But hopefully Im going to run a LPG turbo (GT40) crossflow AOD and 3.7 or 3.9's or maybe even 4.11's.

Should be good if it can be done.

thanks

Be really carefull the engine weights are all up, including flywheel, starter, generator, exhast manifold, air cleaner. Most of these can add 40 pounds to any engine

A log head 144/170 4 main is 365 pounds all up, still only 7.808" tall at the block

A log head 200 7 main is 385 pounds all up, still only 7.803" tall at the block

The 188/221 was about 415 pounds.

Form 1972 on, the 200 and 250 were both same block, 9.38" tall engines. The weight in crease is proportional to the block height, plus some extra for the biger crank. I'd estimate 465 pounds.

The X-flow in the emissions TD and TE was 531 pounds, factory quoted. The head was just fantastically heavy!

The Honda alloy headed 3.3/4.1 was 481 pounds, factory quoted.

The stock 302 4-bbl Windsor, 8.21" tall from the crank to the block, was about 470 pounds, with ancilaries.

The Windsor 351 4V used in the 1970 Phase 1 Falcons was 37 pounds lighter than the 351C 4v ho, which makes it 545 pounds.

The 351C was 582 pounds as a 4V HO without pressure plate, and factory tubing headers. The block was a thinner wall vedrsion of the later Oz Clevleand. Source was a 1988 Hot Rod articel

The factory figure for a 1979 351C with cast iron exhasts, power steering, SelectAire A/C and the last of the NASCAR-spec XE blocks was 719 pounds according to the Ford/Ellery manual.

The return of the 5.0 HO EFI engine in 1992 put the engine at 520 pounds all up, 198 pounds lighter than the old Cleveland.

I never weighed the US 250, but it was heavy. The Oz alloy head engine was a lot lighter. I lost some weight by switching to a T-5 at the same time, but the car is sitting nose high now.

The aloy head hybrid is a lightweight though. I weighed the components and it tips the scale at just over 340lbs, including the headers. Add another 20 lbs for the intake and carbs, and maybe 20 lbs for fluids.
