All Small Six Ever seen a water pump pulley come apart?

I drove the Ranchero from Houston to Dallas (a 600 mile round trip) for the Falcon Nationals last week. I made it to the hotel for the Nationals, but just as I arrived at the hotel, the center broke completely out of the water pump pulley. It took me a day and a half to find a replacement, since a lot of people had parts for 200s but few for 250s.

Looks like Metal fatigue, but those pulley's rarely brake gald you were able to find a replacement.
