hmmm, has to be the weirdest turbo design ive seen and mounted on the wrong side.... good luck to who buys it i say

Thats a nice looking setup. Very nice. Just don't understand how the air got from the carburator to the intake manifold?

Look in the lower centre of the final photo. There's a shinier tube with some rubber hose on one end. It goes from the turbo compressor "out" to the log. Can also be seen in the assembled close-up going over the top of the valve cover.

Regards, Adam.

arent you supposed to place the turbo close to the carb (or source of fuel) to have less lag...? if so wouldnt that make for a very bad situation, having to have the exhaust run under the car then back arround to the carb?

you're supposed to put the turbo closer to the exhaust to reduce lag, that way it spools up faster

Hello All,

I bought the turbo set-up on ebay. I have the same concerns that I see here, but what the hell lets see how well it does or doesn't work. I'll keep you all posted.

In my opinion this setup should work fine! I personally would replace the FI stuff with a Holley carb. Would be a lot easier to set up. I can't tell by the pics where the wastegate goes? But the wastegate that's in the picture is a good one. It's a TIAL 38mm. About $215 by itself.
And yes the turbo is better if it's as close to the exhaust ports as possible. However it doesn't really have anything to do with lag, just efficiency. There's a company making turbo kits that puts the turbo behind the rear axle of F-bodys. Strange, but effective.
I never thought of putting the turbo on that side of the motor. Hmmm! I wonder how sequential turbos would work on Kelly's 250!!!

hmmm. closer to the exhaust manifold...I thought it would be closer to the intake so the fuel has less distance to travel :? That is a very nice looking turbo setup.

Nah. Closer to the exhaust manifold is a reduced time in turbo lag. Most common cars you find that are turbo charged, the turbo will be right off the exhaust manifold. As for fuel, the turbo doesn't need fuel, so you never had to change the distance for fuel lines, they would still go to the stock locations.

Personally I would be concerned with fuel puddling more than anything. In a draw-thru set up the carb. should be the highest point in the system. Just a safety consideration. It is a nice looking set up. I wouldn't be to worried about lag, there are several (cheap) pre-spooling options out there should you need them.
I prefer D/T myself. WAY esier to tune & you don't have to waste $$$ on all the expensive fuel system componants thats manditory & sometimes problematic on blow thru systems. B/T's are cool to though, not trying to bash them any.
Anyway good luck with the kit!

I've been thinking about putting a turbo on a 200 for a while now. They should take to it really well. I didn't think there was anyone besides me interrested in doing this tho. Seems most everyone else just wants to get the ole six outta the way to swap in a 302. I'm glad I came across this board.
