A freind of mine's fairmont completely vaporized its steering bushing. He is trying to replace it but cant seem to get the thing apart....any advice? Thanks

mine just did this a few months ago 
You either have to replace the whole u-joint or borrow a grinder to get the bolts out. (what we did) Then just get a replacement bushing from your local auto parts store. It actually might be better if you can replace the whole joint because the bushings are generic and aren't an exact fit.
