Finally getting back to work...

Just to let everyone know, I've been away from the forums for awhile since my job has had me on the road on average 4 days a week (and some weekends) since February. Not much time for the forums or my car since my wife's honey-do list grew exponentially since discovering the DIY Network.

But, the yard work is mostly done now. Time to turn my attention back to the mustang. I finally drove the car up on the ramps, jacked up the rear, so I can drop the tranny, rear end and get to work. I figured that if I got the car in the air, I'll at least work on it an hour here and there until it's done. There is just so much to do.

I've almost got the old 4 lug rear end out. Just have to remove the parking brake and it's free. Driveshaft and suspension are out of the way. I'm upgrading to a 8" 5lug with a 3.40 limited slip. This car is going to stop ona dime. The 8" rear drums are bigger then my current 4 lug FRONT drums. The reason I'm upgrading is my gear set is basically trashed and I have a bad axle bearing. So I figured I'd upgrade now.

I'm also replacing the 4 cylinder T5 with a V-8 T5 that I'm getting a good deal on. Nothing wrong with the 4 cylinder T5 (already spoken for) behind the 200, just figured I'd upgrade now since I'm getting a cable clutch, later bellhousing, and the v-8 T5 is better matched to the 3.40 gears then the 4cylinder T5 for the style driving I do.

Then there is the new flywheel, clutch, and modified bellhousing for the cable clutch system. I'm getting ride of the 2.77 bell and the recessed flywheel to go with the later design.

Then (not done yet), I can move the car off the ramps, jack up the front, and proceed to replace the front end with a v-8 suspension. I have all the steering components and a stock V-8 sway bar. My biggest problem is I wanted to rebuild the 65 GT disc brakes I have (spindles and all) but the 'toy' money and time are limited so I'm opting for the 68 Drum set up I got with 3000 miles on them (bearings and all) since I got those for the cost of gas it took to pick them up. Not the option I wanted, but will last until next year when I have time/money to rebuild the disc brakes.

Then...I can pull the car off the takes again, and fix my rattling port divider.
