flexplate

I have a 68 mustang w/200 six, C-4 tranny. The ring gear is welded to the torque converter, the flexplate attaches between the t.c. and the crank. There was a small diameter "ring/adapter/re-inforcement plate" that bolted up to the crank w/ the flexplate. I managed to lose that part! I have been told that the flexplate will crack where it bolts to the crank without the other part. I have not had much luck finding one locally. Does anyone know where I might find one?

Thanks
MIKE

This adapter you lost, its round and goes inbetween the flexplate and the crank right? All of the flexplate bolts go through it? I'll see if I can find something, but I havent gotten too much stuff for the small 6/auto.

It would make more sense to me to put the flexplate against the crank, then the ring, like a big washer for the bolt's heads.

But....I wouldn't know, I have a Big Bell 200 and mine is just like a V8, the ring gear is on the flexplate...

Linc is correct. It goes over the flexplate to reinforce it. The flexplates tend to crack around the bolt holes without it.
