The Red Hot's are glasspacks. Just about all the glasspacks are loud, it may even be about the same as what you have now.

'Cherry Bomb' makes other mufflers, I've seen Turbo mufflers with the Cherry Bomb name, but when most people say 'Cherry Bomb' they're thinking glasspack.

Most people seem to like the Dynomax Super Turbos, or any other 'Turbo' style muffler... but the Super Turbos do seem to be a bit better. I'm partial to Flows but most people on here think they're a little too loud.

Mustang196t8, thanks for info. on the Red Hots. Don't want glasspacks  It's not that my muffler is load, it resonates at take off or hard acceleration. Not good for me. I'll check out the Dynomax Super Turbos as you suggested. Hey, could be any worse...well, maybe...

Chaz, my pipes are 2" in and 2" out (that's inside pipe diameter). When I get a replacement you can have this one for the cost of shipping. You would have to replumb your exhaust like a v-8 with dual outs but using only the right side - make sense?

That is a beautiful drawing, magnificent work...haha I looked at the red hots at one time because they are so cheap...$20 for one GP is awesome. If you want glasspacks, Flowtech Purple Hornies are the way to go, but for muffs, I have no clue....Flows are popular but so are these Turbo mufflers, your choice.

Flowmaster mufflers sound like you are dumping your exhaust into empty tin cans. You can hear the sound echoing in there. Sounds terrible to me. I prefer the mellower tones of a glass pack but they do tend to be loud.

I have switched my exhaust manifold over to the later 2" unit. I'm planning to use a stock 289 muffler for the 2" inlet and outlet and the ability to mount it in the stock location so I don't have a muffler hanging under the floor. Anybody make a glasspack with the inlet and outlet on the same end? ;)

I wonder how a Flowmaster would sound with some sort of dampening material in there to mellow the sound a bit. Maybe I should buy one, cut it open and stuff some fiberglass in there and hear it for myself.

its pretty cheap...perferated tubes. is it a nicer sound than glasspacks?

I don't that one's any different than any other glasspack. It may be made a little bit better since it's supposed to be a 'race muffler'. But it probably will be as loud or louder than any other glasspack.

Ok, what's the differance between a cherry bomb & a Thrush?

I got something like the picture above, but it's a thrush with 2" ID in and out, and 25" OAL.

Is a cherry bomb another name or are they like all made by the same people with different names?

BTW, the fitting on the end is so that I can replace the cat on my car with this. The goal is for it to burn out and be a resinator.

i think it all boils down to personal choice any after market piece is going to flow better than stock so performance shouln't be an issue.
as a side not all glasspacks are mostly the same. but some are made with better packing than others this means a longer life and the amount of packing will change resonce and tone. as a rule of thumb the shorter the louder. the purple hornies are great. the summit piece is just enough to pass inspection. nhra passed rules on certain classes making them run mufflers. maybee ftf or some one could say more on than but i dont think they would be worth the time on the street.

Well, I emailed DynoMax and they say they make a Super Turbo muffler with the inlet and outlet on the same side. So I should be able to mount it in the stock location and not have something hanging under the passenger side. Seems Roush uses it in their performance kits.

Ya know, these free breathing 200s need all the exhaust flow mankind can devise.
