Hey all, Just a quick question.

Does anyone have a good way to immobilize the crankshaft while loosening the flywheel bolts? The only thing I've though of is putting a wrench on the bolt on the harmonic balancer, but I haven't had time to try it yet.

Anyways, I'd appreciate some sage advice before I go jamming screwdrivers into moving parts, cause that'll only end in pain.

Thanks.

Stick a #2 phillips screwdriver (or some other rigid round rod) in one of the holes around the perimeter of the flywheel in the area where the starter would be. Then turn the crank/flywheel slowly till the screwdriver hits the block or block plate, then loosen or tighten the bolts. I bought one of those flywheel holding tools at Harbor Freight, because you can never have too many tools, but never used it; not sure where it is....

pulll a spark plug, stick a rope in the cylinder... turn the motor over by hand :)
