for the rednecks out there heres your SC

well my friend has a 88couger 3.8 with a smog aire pump. we plumed it in to the intake. after hogging out the inlet and outlet it pushes about 1-2 psi but it has a pully about 2di. where the stock had a 3-4. it made the car some what faster. but it was free!!!!

there is no way on earth that would put out enough CFM to actually make anything bigger than a Briggs & Stratton faster

it added 1-2 psi. we had a boost gauge on it.

this pic is before we add the smaller pully

there's no way that would even work
you have the air flow so that it would push out of the air filter, there's no way it would pressurize the intake

I think this thread is a waste of bandwidth. I have seen smog pumps and you cannot open the ports up to 1 1/2 inches. These are sliding vane type air pumps. They can't handle the extra heat from making pressure, for any appreaciable length of time.

I admire your desire to explore cars and experiment with ideas. These are admirable qualities. However, you should not post BS. Unless you can post real results, you are just wasting other peoples time and energy.

ok what ever. i would really like to see you make one for less that works. fyi some one would have to pay you to do that.
and dont knock it untill you see the vids.
you're not even making enough power to overcome the parasitic drag of the smog pump

First off, he said redneck. Second off, I have done the same to a 1600cc VW engine back in the mid '80s and plumbed from the engine fan into the oil bath air cleaner (of course, I had no oil in there). Whether it actually worked or not, we didn't care, it was all in fun at the time. We thought it was faster, though.
