The single rail XE EFI 4-spd is a really good, close ratio box. Same as 4.9 XD V8 gearing. The carby 4.1 XE trans is also good if you like wider ratios. If its off a 3.3, run a mile...it will be worse than a BW35 if it breaks on you.

im taking it off an xe spack(4.1litre EFI) and putting it on a xf fairmont (3.3litre carby)

what you reckon?

cheers,

First is a little higher than the stock 3.22:1 they ran, but she should work just fine. I don't know about the bell housing, but the efi ran a 9.5 inch clutch, and the XF ran the last of the smaller Sigma/CommodoreVH/K 5-speed based four-speed gearbox.

The single rail four speed ,
if its in good condition should be fine behind a 3.3.
Not being overabundant in power should mean a healthy life.
Providing the gear lever stays where it should.

Good ol' Backlash. :hmmm: Note how he says twice as much these days.

Must be all the time he spends winding up Americans...
