:?: Is anyone doing anything with ford's flathead six? I was told long ago that they used to be used in track roadsters, but I've never seen or heard of equipment for one. There was a car feature in Street Rodder (?) a few months back of a track roadster which supposedly had this motor, but they gave us pictures of another flathead 8!

Reason for asking: Yesterday I met a fellow here in Newton, Kansas (3 syllables!) who was driving a newly-built old plymouth coupe with a flathead dodge 6 coupled to a t-5 - mild cam, milled head, home-made tubular intake and headers. I'm feeling motivated.

I run a Ford M-series H.P motor backed up w/a C-4 automatic. I have a few different type of motors. One runs a stroker kit. Another one runs a blower, and another one runs a overhead Ardun cam set up w/ a roller cam. It was very expensive (in its day) to build, but worth it. The OHmotor
I race nostalgic only, here at Atlanta Motor Speedway. what exactly do you have in mind? I can help........Vinny

Vinny, how do you stroke a flathead six; and would a stroke longer than 4.4 inches be desirable? I have never heard of an Ardun conversion for the six. What is the story on that? please post pictures.[/i]

Fred, California Bills Ford Speed Manual page 62 tells how to stroke a 226 Flathead motor. Only problem these days would be locating the 38 Olds rods he speeks of in the article.
