My bud has a 2.5L daytona turbo that he was origionally gonna use on his firebird, but decided to get 2 new ones instead....i'm gonna be paying 150.00 for it so I'm happy. I will need to remove some broken coolent fittings, but that wont be too much work, other than that its quite good, I'm gonna look at it on tuesday. can i tee off the coolant line from the heater hose? or how would i hook that up? how hard is it to fabricate something for a draw thru setup? or is there a part i need to buy? I'll be working on another head first as i want something better than what i have for the turbo, but if i like the turbo i will buy it in a couple weeks. any idea how much boost the 2.5L turbo will produce? thanks for any info.

Ive read that the 2.2 probe turbo is just enough for the 250 so im guessing I'll be seeing a bit of performance increase...I decided i'll try my rich running 1bbl carter YF with the turbo, but is it possible to buy a nytrophyl float, or will i have to modify the one i have (possibly injecting expanding foam into it?) or can i adapt something from another carb i have that comes with dual nitrophyl floats? i have done a bit of grinding and stuff and managed to fit some rubber seals arount the throttle plate rod which should prevent gas from excaping fom there in case something like that would happen. I have a 302 now...got it for free...its gonna be rebuilt, but the 250 will still be kept and rebuilt once the 302 is in the car....sorry guys but the tank needs a bigger engine...the six will hopefully be used in my next vehicle. but before the 302 goes in I vow to turbo my engine...and that is a promise i plan to keep

I couldnt find posts that said anything about how to change the pressure of the turbo, is it possible? from the sounds of it, it is possible, could someone please explain how to adjust how much boost u get...is it from the pressure release valve? i only want about 5-7 PSI...i think i chould be able to get about 5 or so from the 2.5L turbo...i read that it should give about a 50-65% realistic gain?

The turbo doesn't produce pressure, it produces flow. The resistance to that flow creates the pressure. You adjust the pressure setting by adjusting the wastegate and/or blowoff valve. A 5 PSI boost raises your pressure from 14.7 PSIA th 19.7 PSIA or about 34%. About 3/4 of that increase will be due to mass flow, the other 1/4 from heat. Only the mass flow increase will add HP so count on about about a 25% gain from 5 PSI and about 35% from 7 PSI

allright,thanks...that'll put me where i want to be around at least...about 120-125Hp...as long as its all running properly...the waste gate comes on the turbo normally right? its not a seperate part i need to buy like the blow off valve? is there a way of measuring the boost without going fancy and expensive? tomorrow i'm looking at the turbo, so Is there anything i should look for? he said it was clean and spun nicely.

Update? What's going on with your turbo project? How's the 302 coming along?

Waste gates come on most (not all) stock pass. car turbo's. Most aftermarket ones don't.

Any air press. guage will measure boost lbs. No need to buy a fancy guage.
