an auto wrecker not that far from me has 2 Fox body cars with inline 6 engines , i think the auto wrecker said one was a 1979 and maybe a 1980 ( edited year ) . i would think both might be 200cid engines . i could go look at them , if i did what should i look for ? look for a large log head ? look for a big bell ? on the phone the auto wrecker said both cars had auto trans. i would have no idea if an engine had a large log head or a big bell . I did ask the auto wrecker if they knew if one of the engines were large log or big bell , the auto wrecker did not know . I am in Victoria BC . is there anyone on this forum that is close to me ?

so looking at other threads on this forum , the Big Bell code is E1BE -BB , looks like they were on 1981 to 1983 Fox body cars . What are the head stamped numbers / codes for the Large Log Heads ?

i looked at the 2 fox body cars , one does not have an engine . the 1980 car has an inline 6 , looks to me like a 200cid . starter is above the oil pan , water pump has 3 bolts , engine has the pre light off catalyst attached to the exhaust manifold . could not see makings on the block , maybe the starter was in the way , or the cat can in the way ! so ? not big bell ?

The number and letters that i could see on the log part of the head are E - 6090 - BB ,there might have been a number or letter before the E but the carb linkage mount was covering it .
The carb was off so i measured the round opening where the carb mounts , the round hole in the log is 1 and 3/4 inches .( edited after reading links to classic inlines ) 1 and 3/4 is 1.75 so a large log head ? So what do the casting numbers tell us ? the top of the log does not look Flat to me , so a Hex log head ?

The car is a 1980 , the only casting letters i can see is E , there must be more in front of the E but would have to remove the mount for the carb linkage to see all the numbers /or letters . so for now all i can see is E -6090- BB

Sounds like a 1980 engine. What do you have in mind? Were you thinking of getting it to fix up or were you thinking about grabbing the head for an existing project? I’m in Vancouver but if I was over there, I’d surely give you a hand.

awasson , The car at the wrecker is a 1980 Fox Body Mustang so the engine is most likely all original. My car is a 1981 Capri , the casting numbers on my log are the same 6090 -BB . i cannot see the numbers and letters before the 6090 -BB on my car or the engine at the wrecker as there is a mount for the carb linkage covering that area . Is it possible the numbers and letters could be different on one 6090-BB log head to another 6090 -BB log head ? i would think there is only one 6090 -BB log head .
The log on my car and the wrecker has an EGR valve mounted to the intake , below the carb . and on both log heads the side of the log is flatter than the top of the log . not sure if that helps any !

I am not having any issues with the log head i have now I think the log head at the wrecker is the same as mine. so do not need another one that is the same .
i am only posting this in case some one would want the large log 6090-BB head at the wrecker . Land is expensive on Vancouver island so most auto wreckers do not keep / store / Fox Body cars .

The link above that bmbm40 posted i do not see any 6090 -BB casting numbers listed .
But i did find some comments on this forum about the 6090 - BB log head.
