Fuel filter getting loose

My 1946 carb's fuel filter loosens itself every 100 miles or so. I'm carfull to use two wrenches when attaching the fuel tube so as to not preload it.

What gives, I'm generally afraid of fire. Has anyone else seen this?

If it was ever cross-threaded the threads on the carb might be messed up.
Mine are usually very tight to thread all the way in.

I can't figgur it to back out even if you didn't get it tight in the carb if you got the fule line tight agianst it , It would have to turn the fule line to loosen up.. something else aint right..

Isn't the deal that the threads in the carbs are a normal thread and it uses the gasket/washer thing to seal and the filters have a pipe taper thread so you use some sort of a thread sealer? I seem to recall that they are fairly close so its easy to mess either one up by threading it into the wrong hole?

Thanks all, I'll figure it out. I'll pick up a new one and start from there. I'll bet the little washer is missing.
