Give it gas and no go!

Now that I have my 200 running or at least idling very nicely, I am having problems with giving it gas.

Whenever I step on the accelerator the engine will sputter and then die almost immediately. Right now my initial timing is set to 10*BTDC with about 6 or so degrees of vacuum advance (could be more vacuum - guessing because I just have a timing light). If I set the initial timing to anything more or less it seems to idle very rough. I think the 10* is the best number.

Could it be my YF? It seems that adjusting the fuel/air mixture screw never yields the same results.

Or, and I hate to say this, could it be a timing issue - again.

It could be the carb.. It sounds like a fuel probleum.
Try screwing the mixture screw in all the way, it should die, if the motor steals runs you have a vacuum leak. Then I would check the float level making sure there is enouf gas in the carb.. Also check and see if the excelator pump is squarting gas when you give it gas that would cause a stumble and cause it to die if its not getting a squart.

I had a similar problem... it would idle, but when I stepped on the pedal, it would die. But if I pumped the pedal, it would rev up as long as I kept pumping the pedal. If I just stayed on the pedal after getting the rpm's up, it would still die. After asking on here what could be wrong, I decided to tap on the float bowl with the handle of a screw driver to see if I had a stuck float, thus maybe getting it free by tapping on the carb. It must have been the problem, for it worked afterwards. Maybe worth tapping on the float bowl, sure can't hurt any.... Don't kill it, just tap on it.

I think the accelerator pump is working because I can pump the pedal and get a squairt from the carburator but I haven't checked the float yet. I don't think it's a vaccum leak but I'll check all the lines again.
