Hey everyone!

Just become the proud owner of a 250 2V motor :) i was looking for just the 2v head but when i seen this motor i thought i may aswell buy the whole thing! $180!!! im stoked!

i have pics of it but dunno how to put em on a forum :(

catch ya's soon

hahaha, no chance!

more than welcome to come round (bring a carton too!) and help tinker wif it tho when i get some parts together :)

How about I send 'round one of the mechanical incompetents I seem to be perpetually bailing out, down here?

OK, $220.

One word of advice (two actually)... Firstly, check to see if the head gasket is original. I am curious if it is and may request a measurement of thickness... Secondly have a darned good look for exhaust leaks, then back up and have another darned good look. Now have a darned good look again. My point? These (leaks) are way better fixed OUT of the car, and the centre pair tend to blow upwards, eroding the flange surface. What extractors are on it?

Adam.

Adz!!
i havent had a chance to pull the head off yet but how do i tell if the head gasket is original??

as for the exhaust manifold it has the original log style.... (easy to bolt a turbo on! dont think it would work to well tho....)

if the leaks are a worry, do u think its a good idea to get the exhaust manifold face machined and the extractor face too?? my exhaust bloke will help and fix the leak if i have a drama when the motor is in so im not overly stressed :)

hear from u soon

Last person to call me that was a Greek beautician with lips like Pamela Anderson... I don't think the rest of the story would be right for this Forum!

When you clean the whole motor, look for paint on the edge of the head gasket, especially on the pasenger side. They painted the assembled block and head in greyish blue, but the rocker cover was fitted after (the little bolts for it are unpainted).

The log style fanimold is not original; they all came with extractors. Unless it's been welded up, it'll leak at the top. Definitely gotta go. You should always do this stuff before the motor goes in (and a dummy fit). Machining the flange never hurt! Check the bolts all line up with their holes. DO NOT buy the Rare Spares HS-10M extractor gasket. It's all but useless. Get a Gas Miser or ACL inlet/exhaust manifold gasket kit ($30-ish).

$250, then? :rolflmao: Yeah, I know... :nono:

sorry adz, opps, adam

i already have extractors on my current motor and i will prolly get the flanges done on them and the head when i get the valve seats done and new guides put in.......

i will look at the gasket and keep u posted!

i dunno y it has that exhaust manifold on, but it has the inlet manfold it has the 1-6, 2-5, 3-4 banana lookin style wif the autolite carby, this std too?

The standard inlet manifold is the one you're describing, but the carb fitted was a Stromberg WW. An Autolite would use an adaptor of the Holley type.

must be the stromberg then, i wasnt sure, i havent really had the best close up look over the whole motor as yet, had no time to even scratch myself!

Also, the prices at the fordsix shop, they some of the best around or should i also look elsewhere? do forum members get a discount at the fordsix shop?? got sum nice lookin gear:)

Well, remember that some of that stuff is imported from Oz. Also, Mike isn't making mega dollars on it. It pretty much covers his costs and feeds his cat collection. What were you looking at?

i was lookin at the works!
roller rockers
cam
lifters
pushrods
girdles
valve stem seals
valves (if he suppiles them)
gaskets

like i said the works, got the bottom end to go.....

if mike reads this i meant no offence when i said should i look around for other prices...... that site was the 1st place i looked :)

hopefully have sum money soon to start buying the stuff :D

The main thing worth investigating there is the oversize valves. (Though there are some other options here.) Everything else can be sourced locally no worries.

Mate, you need to resize that picture! Create a new version that's 20% of the original length and width. Sweet car, though.

Adam.

adam

if i knew how to resize it i would! i took the link from another forum im part of and its small there, but became super huge here! sorry guys.....

please tell me how or can someone do it for me??

Yeah, I have been threatening to get 3 SUs from my Jag-Lovin-fruitcake of a friend and fit them up, but rust repair is taking priority at present.

The old orange XY Ute is pretty shot in the sills and back corners - might be mostly fixed this weekend I hope...

best thing for a jag motor is a boat anchor! get the SU's and fit em up if yer can, would be sweeet!

rust repairs are never fun, i had to replace the sills on my old GT coupe but the rare spares ones are pretty good and fit nice:)
