I have a 1966 Mustang with a I6 200 and an autolite 1100. When completely warm, the engine acts flooded and will not start without the accelerator to the floor. Also, around town mileage is 6 mpg less than on a long trip. I have read that some carb shops can improve on the stock design to correct this, and was wondering if it was something any of you have done yourself.
Thanks in advance

HI Tim AND WELCOME TO THE BOARD
Sounds like you got a bad power valve. It well cause the carb to flood the motor. When you shut the motor off it well let the gas run out of the float bowl into the motor and flood it..
Once you get it started let it run for a little bit pull the air filter off shut the motor off and look down the carb. watch it carefully you well prob see gas dripping down inside. or the choke could be sticking closed... with the motor warm take the air filter off and see if the choke is wide open.. it should be..
it may be time to get the carb rebuilt or get a new one..
