Justin, NAPA has the DG305 gear & sorenson brand is also available at advance auto & other parts stores. William

well id do that but every parts store that ive went to says they dont carry it or that it would be like a week and a half till they can get it in i was hoping to find one on the net that i could get overnighted cause this is for my daily driver and my mom cant afford to keep taking off work to pick me and my lil bro up from school

Yea, I just called NAPA about it...they said they have to special order it. I thought that Mike had some in stock....Maybe you could pm him and see if he could get it to you?

For a few days, you could probably limp around with a regular one. After all, the first piece lasted a while. Just baby the motor.

You could order one from here (DG2A) and it would only take just on a week. Shops will be open in 9½ hours.

Adam, I remember about a year ago on the aussie forum index there was a big disscussion about camshaft & distributor gear wear.

Did they ever find the reason for the rash of failures??

Did the Crow gear DG2A take care of the problem??

I wonder what the hardness of the Crow gear is compared to say a gear from napa or sorensen the DG305???

Anybody have access to a rockwell hardness testing machine to check them out.

I will have to get i touch with Mike & see what brand gear is on the DUI distributor.

I wonder if the oil pumps have too high a relief spring in them causing excessive load on the gear.

Let get some more feedback on this condition, because it is a problem.

William - there was never a specific conclusion on the DG2 or DG2A. However, I don't remember having heard of a Crow gear failing in service with a Crow cam. And they, like everyone else are now beholden to the overseas billet forgings with the questionable worm.

It's getting to the point where regrinding cams is an attractive option.

One fellow who imported weatherstrips told me some years back "If you can hold off buying these parts for about eighteen months, do so"... The universal manufacturer (offshore, naturally) had screwed up and EVERY supplier had the mis-dimensioned parts. Although the maker had promised to rectify in the next batch, it was worth waiting for the bad stock to clear.

I can see very similar possibilities with the cam blanks - the market is so small, it would only take 1500 or so to give a bad rap for years.

Regards, Adam.
