What are some head modifications I could have done to my head. I have read about a leter head and that, just wondering what else could be done. I have a 200, and am preparing for a turbo, so compression must be kept in mind, and I shal be running the holley 2300 500 cfm version. I think thats about it... Thanks, Tommy......lol hey did you guys know you could highlight text and place it somewhere else? (when posting a message)

I know guy (dave pletcher) who owns a machine shop and he has done all the maching on my dads hemis, and the screwup someone did on his flathead 6 chrysler, I was hoping to only spend a few hundred dollars (3-400) just to help out some performance wise...

You could:

3 angle valve job
bacut the intake valves
Pocket port the intakes
Port both sides of the ehaust
Port Divider
Polish the valve faces
Polish th combustion chambers
CC the combustion chambers
Check the Valve spring pressure
Shim stock springs
Use one piece retainer

Howdy Tommy and All:

Curtis outlined the big stuff on head mods. A '68 head could also benifit from the later, slightly larger intake valves.

These mods will make a significant difference when used in conjunction with improved intake, exhaust, and ignition. The only thing missing then is improved cam timing.

Mounting the Holley carb directly to the modified log manifold is also worth doing for increased flow potential and hood clearance.

You might also reread the sticky at the top of this forum on the differences in head gasket thicknesses and milling to at least maintain stock compression ratio.

Enjoy.

Merry Christmas.

Adios, David

If you have a die grinder you could also unshroud the intake valves.

tanx and Merry Christmas,
Mugsy
