Head mods

maybe this subject line will work. I'm taking my head off my 1965 mustang. Come to find out, I have the original engine but its for a 1966 mustang. This happened because my car was built in late August of 1965 during Ford to switch over to the 1966 model. I"m not removing the block. I want to mill the head for better performance, but i'm still lost. I've read about the mods and cc'ing, but would milling the head effect the block? I"ve never worked on any engine heavily enough to know the ins and outs of it all. I've found some machine shops locally and will be calling for some prices. I just need to know what to do. I am definitely going to get the intake valves changed.

Order the Falcon Performance Book. The book details what you need to do to measure and calculate your final CR. If this is the 66' head and block it already has good compression so be careful taking any more off the head than is needed to keep a flat surface.

Get the Falcon Book, it will take the “scare” out of what you need to do.

Good luck, Ric.

Thanks for the plug for our book.

Until it shows up in the mail, read my brother's "STICKY" at the top of this section.

Then goto the Hardcore Inline Tech section and read my two "Sticky" notes about porting and three angle valve jobs. They'll give you something to think about until your book comes.

Good Luck
