Head torquing?

Hey guys, I got a question on head bolt tightening. I read somewhere that there was a stepping style for torquing the head. I looked all over in the ford six performance book and couldn't find it. Could anyone let me know what the steps were? I am also using arp grade studs if that changes anything. (and let me know if it does)

P.S. (between our lifters there was a ton of sludge, so much I didn't even know that there was a "canyon" between my lifters, so I cleaned it out. That sludge doesn't mean anything though, right?)

Thanks

Yank-By-Numbers.

In three stages.

Sludge, generally, suggest infrequent engine oil changes.

Dirty oil/sludge can restrict oil flow in various parts of the engine.

It is best to remove as much as you can, mechanically (scraping, etc.) and, to the extent necessary, chemically.
